These Air Fryer Chicken Shawarma Bowls are a super easy lunch or dinner. Using frozen chicken shawarma cooked in the air fryer, and frozen rice cooked in the microwave, makes for a quick and delicious mediterranean meal.

I love short cuts but I also love to eat fairly healthy. This Air Fryer Chicken Shawarma bowl hits the mark for both. It’s not really a recipe – it’s a list of possible ingredients you can put together to make a quick and delicious meal in minutes.
Key Ingredients for Air Fryer Chicken Shawarma Bowls
- Whole Foods Frozen Chicken Shawarma: You can use any chicken shawarma but we really like the ease of this one. It cooks quickly in the air fryer and has a nice flavor.
- Cooked Rice: frozen rice makes this a really easy meal. We like the Trader Joe’s frozen brown rice.
- Chickpeas: Chickpeas add healthy protein to this dish
- The Fixings: You can customize this however you want by adding vegetables like cucumber, tomatoes, and onion, sauces, and cheese. The recipe card below shows how we like to make it.

Note: Make sure to check recipe card for full list of ingredients

BEST FOR:
Days when you want to spend very little time and effort on preparation, but want a fairly healthy meal. Most of these ingredients should be in your fridge, freezer, or pantry so this is also a great “backpocket” meal for those nights when you don’t have something planned but don’t want to go out.

SUMMARY:
This recipe tastes good and requires very little effort, which is a huge plus for burnt out cooks. The shawarma has a somewhat high sodium content, and is a processed food item, so it’s not as healthy as making your own but still pretty healthy. It’s great for a quick meal occasionally, especially if it keeps you from eating out.
Serve with
For us, this makes a whole meal so we don’t serve it with anything else.
